I was asked to speak once on the three gifts of life that I felt took my breath away. So I’m going to break them into three Monday thoughts! I have felt strongly that we have to keep the main things of life in perspective for us to survive this journey with hope and often we will understand the words Christ has told has many times: “ Be of Good Cheer.”
The First Gift: The Gift of Watching a Baby Born and the Gift of Life.
One of the gifts that took my breath away was watching a baby born. It was my first child! I felt that he had just stepped down from Heaven. He had been given the gift of life! This gift is awaited, planned for and joyous on both sides; both in Heaven and on this earth! It is a miracle of intricate systems being provided for a soul so that this soul can understand the power, temptations and joys of that body. Job tells us “all the sons of God shouted with joy!” (Job 38: vs.7). I knew I was there, and I shouted for joy as well that we could come to this earth. I also knew, as I held this new joyous child, that he had been in the arms of his Father before he was put in my arms! Oh, Happy Day! So the gift of life, both our life and others’ lives, are precious.
