This book is written for teens and young adults, but it will also be helpful to parents who are struggling with ways to help their teen-aged children face the challenges and dangers of living in today’s world and still being able to maintain a Christ-like life and attitude. The book is directed at young people who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but is a great tool for Christians of any faith or for others who share similar values and beliefs.
One key focus of the book addresses the fact that our young people often hear and know the “rules” they should follow but are sometimes left without practical skills to put those rules into place in their everyday lives. This book suggests nine specific “tools” which will help all of God’s children to better follow Christ’s example in their lives. If put into practice, the tools or principles discussed in this book will also help readers to face the challenges of life and still experience true joy despite those trials that may enter their lives.
A second concept discussed in the book is the fact that many of the problems in the lives of young people are magnified by the act of trying to lie to parents and loved ones in an attempt to hide the behavior from them. Hence the name, “It Started With A Lie”.
