Take Action!

TakeActionWe are often overwhelmed in our lives; feeling that we can’t get ahead or there is always something happening that we can’t control and that we don’t like!  We definitely have times like that, but there is something we can do.

First, is take action!  A woman, depressed to the point that she would not get up, or get dressed made the decision that something had to

happen.  She had heard a story about a runner who, before she became a runner, weighed over 400 lbs.  The runner started first to walk and then walk often and quickly.  Soon she began to jog.  After that she took to running.  Her whole life turned around. She took action!

The woman who was depressed decided that she needed to take action as well.  Every morning she would get dressed and walk to end of the block.  She did that for a week.  She stayed determined and moved the walk to two blocks, than to three.  After that she decided she would walk to the store.  This continued on, but she didn’t stop at just walking.

She noticed that her neighbor, who was elderly had a hard time with leaves and grass that would accumulate on her front porch.  She started sweeping her front porch each morning, long before the neighbor even got up.

She then thought about going back to work.  She got the first job available, which was working at a 7-11.  At that job, she was determined to do things that would make other people feel better.  She smiled and helped more, and she would often run out to hold a door for an older person.  Soon she gained a reputation where people would tell her that they came to see her as well as getting an item.  She then decided to get more training and move up job wise as well as trying new things.

The point is she took action to create a change in herself.  We can change, and it involves action. We can think and think and think, and nothing will happen.  We do need to think, that is true, but it has to be combined with action to create change.

What a wonderful thing to know that we can think something through and then create a plan of action.  So what if it isn’t perfect and doesn’t work perfectly.  Come up with a new plan after reviewing the old one, and then take action again.

Open your eyes and look around. There is plenty to do in our troubled world. It will help us and it will help others. See what is needed and step forward. Help others have a happy day!
