I was asked to speak once on the three gifts of life that I felt took my breath away. So I’m going to break them into three Monday thoughts! I have felt strongly that we have to keep the main things of life in perspective for us to survive this journey with hope and often we will understand the words Christ has told has many times: “ Be of Good Cheer.”
Here is the third gift:
The third gift that takes my breath away is the gift of repentance. I can remember thinking about joining the church and wondering how I could start fresh. I think many of us as we think of our God are grateful for the ability to start fresh, clean, and the power of the cleansing that goes with the gift of repentance.
I would also wonder how I could keep clean day after day when life is full of weakness. My life was full of weaknesses as well! How could I make the journey the way I wanted to and return home when this journey was done? I knew there were some things I had to learn and had to prove!
Than the impact of that the gift of repentance hit me. I can do that through HIM, the Great Jehovah; Our Lord, Our Christ, who made the road passable. He could bring me over the impossible journey and get me home. What a gift! It took my breath away. Oh, Happy Day!
