Well-respected retired counselor Roberta Hess Park says we need not look far to find where to make a difference. It starts with our own physical, emotional, and spiritual state of being. So What Do You Do About It? addresses those three areas of self, where growth brings contentment in our own lives and empowers us to impact those around us. “Regardless of where we are in any of those three, we can always improve,” Roberta says. “Do all you can do to grow in all three. They are interrelated, and when they are put into motion, things happen for the good.”
After spending her career helping, counseling, speaking, teaching, and sharing, Roberta is responding to many requests for her to share the truths she has learned. Her experiences working with others, as well as her own personal struggles, provide a treasure-trove of insights useful to anyone, in any stage of life.“If we allow God-given principles to enter our lives, our behavior will change.”
Roberta’s background includes overcoming serious challenges. She was placed in an orphanage shortly after birth and was classified as un-adoptable. Though she eventually was adopted at age three, there were more issues to overcome. It wasn’t easy for her to join a family, and it wasn’t easy for them. Her teens and twenties were fraught with danger. She lived on the self-destructive side, feeling as though she had no worth.
After a powerful experience pulled her from the brink, Roberta knew that God knew her name and felt He was reaching out to her. She grabbed hold, and her life changed. She then made a decision to always try to be good and do good. She went on to continue her education and since has worked with countless individuals as an educator, school counselor, private counselor, public speaker, and church/community volunteer.
“We are intertwined, and we go through so many changes in our lives,” Roberta says. “Life is good, even when it is hard. We are in charge of how we feel and what we are going to do about it in so many ways. So go through it! Learn from it! Share from it, and make a difference!”
